Steckborn, April 26, 2023 | BERNINA International AG became the target of a cyber-attack on Wednesday morning, April 5, 2023.
BERNINA International's IT network was attacked with malware. The company immediately initiated the necessary security measures, called in external specialists and involved the relevant authorities. A detailed investigation of the facts is underway.
In addition, BERNINA quickly informed its employees about the possible loss of sensitive data and established processes to protect the affected employees and services.
In the meantime, thanks to the great efforts of the IT team and external experts, BERNINA has been able to restore operations to pre-attack levels – with only few exceptions.
BERNINA did not comply with the ransom demands of the extortionists. In the night of April 26, 2023, the hackers therefore published stolen files. BERNINA is aware of this; according to our knowledge, the volume of stolen data is significantly lower than claimed by the hackers. We will evaluate the situation and data and take further measures if necessary.
