Under the guidance of the committee of “Kwilts innie Bos” the Youth Quilt Block Challenge was launched in 2009.

 

The main aim is to inspire the youth of South Africa to express their creativity and colourful ways through quilting. The Youth Quilt Block Challenge provides the platform for this vision. The competition encourages quilters (mothers, grandmothers and teachers) to act as mentors.

 

As the committee works in association with the National Quilt Museum of the United States, all the blocks in the finals of every year's competition, are sent to the Museum in Paducah, Kentucky were they are exhibited.
