FIBRE ARTS NEW ZEALAND 2016

Fibre Arts New Zealand began its life in Nelson in support of Australian designers who were attending the World of Wearable Arts event. Glenys Mann who runs Fibre Arts Australia decided to expand and offer workshops in New Zealand and when WOW relocated to Wellington she transferred to Whitireia Polytechnic at their Lindale campus to run workshops by international tutors.

Wairarapa Inter-Collegiate Fashion Extravaganza 2015

Garments were judged on: Cutting and construction skills displayed, degree of difficulty attempted, suitability of design to fabric, quality of finish, creativity, use of embellishments, fashion or design trend expressed and originality.

Contempory Fibre Art Awards 2015

Wairarapa Inter-Collegiate Fashion Extravaganza 2014

This year 176 entries were showcased before an audience of 500. 12 finalists were selected on the combination of their points for Technical Excellence and Creative Excellence.

Clean Sweep for Wanganui High School at Bernina Design Competition

This year’s winner was Rachel McDonald, Wanganui High School with Titania from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Wanganui High School students also won 2nd and the two 3rd equal prizes.

BERNINA Fashion Awards Northland

There was plenty of glitz and glamour on show at the 2010 BERNINA Fashion Awards held on August 12th in Whangarei. 140 entries were received for this year’s event, in categories as diverse as ‘Extreme Elegance’, ‘Trash to Fashion’ and ‘Body Art’.

Shakespeare Costume Design Competition - NZ Designed modelled at 'Stratfords of the World'

Previous winners from the SGCNZ/BERNINA Shakespeare Costume Design Competition were modelled at the ‘Stratfords of the World’ opening in Stratford in February. The costumes then went on display at the Percy Thomson Gallery.
