Quilting Tales - Janice Gunner
Welcome to Quilting Tales brought to you by Bernina UK.
This is our latest instalment in our continuing series of video interviews with quilters who would like to tell their story and share their passion.
Explore the story behind leading quilter and tutor Janice Gunner’s quilt “Pathway to Recovery”. This piece was inspired by a recovery from a critical illness, during which time Janice used different computer applications to manipulate an image. This image was originally a photograph taken of a pathway in Japan that she superimposed with photos of family members that had visited her in hospital. It is a whole cloth quilt on which the image is printed onto the fabric with techniques such as vermicelli quilting visible in the centre. Janice free machine quilted the piece on her Bernina Q20 and impressively did so one-handed due to a broken arm! We hope you enjoy Janice’s tale.
(This video was filmed by Bernina UK at The Festival of Quilts 2018.)
