BERNINA RSA partnership with the Clover Mama Afrika Project - Overlock Workshop adds VALUE
Each year begins with an intense two week sewing beginners course for new Mamas and/or caregivers.
This course includes getting to know both sewing machine and overlocker however, the overlocker is far more intricate and many members need further training on it. No less than nine members from various centres country wide attended the one week overlock workshop at Bernina.
During the week they learned everything about operating their overlock machines to its full capacity and the end result was a three piece tracksuit. For both Linda Venter of Bernina RSA and Prof Elain it is another opportunity to evaluate the Mamas' and members' sewing work and ability. "The overlocker seems to intimidate new sewers but once they actually learn to operate it properly, they realise that it is a very worthwhile piece of equipment to finish off their sewing work and do so much more with it", says Linda.
