Tulle floral scarf and fingerless gloves

Tulle Floral Scarf

Size 16 x 140 cm

Materials

  • 0.2 m jersey fabric in red (min. 1.4 m wide)
  • 0.2 m stretch tulle in black (min. 1.4 m wide)
  • 1.4 m floral trim (or as per the width of the jersey fabric)
  • Black overlocking thread
  • BERNINA overlocker (e.g. L 450 / L 460)
  • BERNINA sewing machine
Cutting out
(Seam allowances are already included – see under Materials)

Instructions
  1. Using the sewing machine, sew floral trim onto the black tulle in a wavy pattern. Alternatively, the trim can be sewn on with the chainstitch of the L 220.
  2. Place both scarf sections together right-sides-facing and sew together with the 3-thread overlock seam, leaving an opening of about 10 cm. Turn scarf right-side-out and close opening by hand.

Tulle Fingerless Gloves

Materials

  • 0.4 m stretch tulle in black
  • 0.3 m floral trim
  • Black overlocking thread
  • BERNINA overlocker (e.g. L 450 / L 460 / L 220)
  • BERNINA sewing machine
Cutting out
(Seam allowances must be added on)

Cut out 2x fingerless-glove pieces as per sketch, adjusting the measurements as necessary.

Instructions

  1. Sew all hems with the coverstitch. Alternatively, the hems can be sewn with a twin needle and your sewing machine. Sew floral trim onto the centre of a ‘glove’ section with the sewing machine.
  2. Gather the fabric under the trim slightly. Alternatively, the trim can also be sewn on with the chainstitch of the L 220. The second glove section is sewn with no embellishment.
  3. Place glove sections together right-sides-facing and sew together with the 4-thread overlock seam.
  4. Turn right-side-out. Finished!
