i-Tips BERNINA 880Stitch Designer

The BERNINA 880 offers hundreds of stitches. The Stitch Designer lets you edit these stitches or create your own. Draw your ideas right on the screen. The BERNINA 880 will also convert your design into an embroidery motif with a single click. Stock stitches can also be altered and saved. The options are endless, and your Stitch Library will carry on expanding apace.

We’d like to give you a simple example of how the Stitch Designer works, based on the ‘screen’ project in the current issue of Inspiration.

Choose stitch 39, width 9 and length 6. We want to make the design as large as possible and convert the diagonal stitches into triple stitches.

Here, we’ve increased the pattern-repeat length to 150%. For this, click on ‘i’. In the window that now opens, click on ‘Pattern length/Stitch density’ and set to 150%.

Click on ‘i’ once more to return to the original screen.

To run through a stitch pattern, go to the current stitch point. This is the largest dot, and its position is indicated by the scroll numbers.
Use the arrows to move forwards or backwards through the stitch pattern.

Arrow-up to position 3/8. Press the Triple Stitch icon. The activated stitch becomes a triple stitch.

Select position 5/8 and press the Triple Stitch icon once more.

The redesigned stitch is displayed on the far left in its altered view.
If you’ve clicked on the wrong point by mistake, you’ll find a Back and Restore icon there as well. You can also delete individual stitches, or just shift them and paint and add on new ones. Delete highlighted stitches by clicking on the bin. It’s fun to experiment here.
Although the stitch pattern has been changed, it is not saved in the short-term memory as an altered stitch pattern.

The finished pattern can be saved in the Personal Program for further use. To do this, first close the Stitch Designer by clicking on the green tick.
Click on Personal Program and select Save.

Click on a folder of your choice to select it.

To save, either click on the icon with the new stitch pattern, or on the green icon with the tick (Confirm/OK).

Stitch patterns created with the Stitch Designer can be imported into Embroidery Mode and used there in an even more creative fashion.
