BERNINA Embroidery Software is installed on a PC
Designs are not visible in Embroidery library



Possible root causes:

• The filter is set to only show certain file types (i.e. All Machine Files)
• Some new PCs are set to save files on the cloud (i.e. OneDrive)

Possible solutions: ​
 

• Make sure the designs are saved on your hard drive: C:\Users\Public\Public Embroidery
• Make sure the filter is set to show 'All Embroidery Files' and the Search field is empty

V9 can be installed on three (3) devices but you may only run it on one (1) device concurrently.

For V9
To change from one computer to another with V9, simply use the same login information used during registration.

The license can be moved from one working PC to another. For V9 the license is simply released from within the software See here for details: My_profile_settings.
Note: The WiFi Device can only be setup on one PC at the same time (See also FAQ 100635)

For V8
Each product key has three activations. The idea of this is to allow for installation on two different devices and have a third activation as a spare for a possible “crash” scenario.

The moved software license keeps the same conditions defined in the license agreement as the hardware dongles. It is a single, non-transferable license and while the software can be installed on more than one device, it is deemed that, as the product key is sold to an individual, they will only be running the software on a single device at any time.

During WiFi Device setup your WiFi network is not visible.

Possible solutions:

1. Make sure the selected WiFi connection is 2.4 GHz. See also the 'How To check frequency EN.pdf' document.
2. Close the setup wizard, wait a few seconds, restart the setup wizard.
3. Try moving the Device somewhere else in range of the network.

Even if your computer can see the WiFi network, the device may not be able to because the WiFi module doesn't have the same range.


 

A Windows Update might have damaged some entries in the "Messages" folder of Corel. 

Solution:

1. Press Windows Key + R
2. Type %appdata%\Corel
3. Press Enter
4. Delete the "Messages" folder


 

The DesignerPlus software shows a flickering screen when switching/converting from ArtCanvas to EmbrioderyCanvas. The Software is used with two screens.  
Below one example (Note: it can fade out in various directions and can be more fragmented):



Problem: The Windows display settings for the two displays are set to different values. 

Solution:
1. Do a right click on the desktop and click on Display settings



2.  In the settings make sure that the value under "Scale and Layout" where it says "change the size of a text, apps, and other items" is set to the same value for screen 1 and screen 2 (e.g. 100%). The resolution should also be set to the same value.  

After WiFi Device setup:
    -The power LED is solid green
    -The WiFi LED is solid blue
    -The Devic state indicator LED is solid green
    -On the machine the designs are not visible



Possible reasons:
On some models the 'Serial interface' setting on the WiFi Device needs to be turned off.
On some models the 'USB drive compatibility mode' setting on the WiFi Device needs to be turned on.
On some models the 'Emulate BERNINA WiFi Device to be:' setting on the WiFi Device needs to be used.

Solution:

If you are using a BERNINA machine make sure you have the latest firmware installed.
If you are using a different brand try the different settings available in the BERNINA WiFi Connector - Advanced Settings.
We recommend to test one after the other.



Keep the WiFi Device connected to the machine to test the different settings.

The 'Serial interface' settings needs to be activated again if for some reason you want to connect the WiFi Device to a computer. For example to setup on a different computer.

Be ware that changing memory size or emulation mode in the advanced settings will delete all designs saved on the device.

After WiFi Device setup:
    - The power LED is solid green
    - The WiFi LED is blinking blue (fast)
    - Designs cannot be sent to the WiFi Device

Possible solution:

Start the BERNINA WiFi Connector on one PC in the same network as the WiFi Device.

After WiFi Device Setup:
    -The power LED is solid green
    -The WiFi LED is blinking blue
    -The state indicator is not lit

Possible solutions:
1. Make sure you are using the correct password for your Router or Access Point.
See also How To find WiFi password EN.pdf'. With the WiFi Device plugged to your computer and WiFi LED blinking, enter the password again under 'Configure selected - WiFi Settings'. Use the 'Show password' toggle to make sure it is entered correctly.
    
2. Do a factory reset of your WiFi Device.
Keep the reset button pressed until the state indicator turns white. See also Reset the device.
    
 3. Make sure your Router and/or Access Point allow communication between devices. Please refer to the reference manual of your Router and/or Access Point for this.

After going through the setup for the WiFi device, the device never shows as “Ready” in the Connector application and the status bar on the device never turns green.
Problem: The Virtual Machine’s default Network Configuration does not detect the WiFi device.

Solution

Change the Virtual Machine’s Network Configuration and manually select Wi-Fi as the source. Also, verify that the “Parallels VirtIO Ethernet Adapter (Ethern..)” is selected in the WiFi Connector application’s Network Settings.

1. Click on the “Configure” gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the Virtual Machine.
2. Select “Hardware” in the Virtual Machine’s Congfiguration window.
3. Select “Network” from the list on the left.
4. Click on the drop down menu for “Source” and select “Wi-Fi” -->VM Configuration Settings for WiFi Device.​


5. Open the WiFi Connector Application.
6. Click on the “Network Settings” gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the window.
7. Select “Parallels VirtIO Ethernet Adapter” from the drop down menu for Network adapter.
8. Click “OK” --> WiFi Connector - Network Settings edited

Symptom
During installation of your Embroidery Software, you get a message asking if you want to merge the previous Version with the new Version.

Description
Solution
Below is what happens when “merge” is selected while installing BERNINA V9. For other versions the paths mentioned below might vary.

1. The defaults file from the old installation gets merged with the one from the new installation and placed into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
   The defaults file contains any default changes done in windows such as "Options", "Background & Display colors", etc. The docker and toolbar layout are version specific and do not get merged.
2. User motifs from the old installation are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
   User Motifs are created using the "Create pattern" or "Create Border" features. Stamps are also merged.
3. Thread charts from the old installation that don't have a matching pair in the new installation or have a later modification date are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData.
4. Templates from the old installation are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
5. User auto fabric (userdefined.autost) from the old installation are copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
6. User hoops file (USRHOOPS.DSC) from the old installation is copied into the corresponding directory in ProgramData\BERNINA.
7. Fabric user files (*.flb) from Program Files (x86)\Common files\Wilcom\Fabrics are copied to ProgramData\BERNINA\BERNINA Embroidery\fabric
8. Fabric user files (*.Blb) from Program Files (x86)\Common files\Wilcom\Blocks are copied to ProgramData\BERNINA\BERNINA Embroidery\Blocks

Windows or Embroidery Software Updates could affect the connection between V9 and Corel.

To retrigger the Corel connection between V9 and Corel, please delete the Plugin file from the following path: C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite SE (64-Bit)\DrawSE\Plugins64



Please run V9 as Administrator in order to recreate the plugin.

BERNINA Embroidery Software V9 does not show in the Volume Mixer of Windows:

Cannot mute or individually change the volume of the software through the Windows Volume Mixer because it is not showing.

In order to make the BERNINA Embroidery Software visible in the Windows Volume Mixer you first need to produce a sound in the software (e.g. digitalize an object). After that it will show up in the Windows Volume Mixer and the volume can be muted or changed.

• The folder structure in the V8/9 embroidery library is visible but empty.
• The content is visible in Windows Explorer.

Solution
Check library settings

1. Open the V8/V9 embroidery library.
2. Look for the “Showing” selection and make sure it is set to “All Embroidery Files (*.*)”:
    

 

1. If the issue persists, uninstall all V9, Wilcom and if given Corel software.
2. Repair system files (advanced /optional):
   1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd" and right-click to select Run as administrator).
   2. Run the following command: “sfc /scannow”.
   3. Restart your PC after the scan is complete.
3. Install pending Windows updates if given.
4. Reinstall V8/9 (run installation as admin, temporarily disable security software and firewalls, for the installation move the slider for “Change User Account Control Settings” to the lowest position).
5. Move the slider back to the default position and enable your security software and firewalls again.
6. Start V9 and check if the problem is solved.

When you are using an internal or external 4K screen make the following setting in Windows:
 

1. Windows Start > Settings > System > Display
2. Change the resolution to the maximum value
3. Choose " Resize text, apps and other elements"
4. Set the value to min. 200% or higher

Thumbnails of Embroidery Designs are only shown with the icon. This is also the case in the windows explorer.



Solution
For machine files click on the file once:

1. Click on the machine file which is only displaying as an icon.
2. Select a different folder.
3. Go back to the original folder. The thumbnail should become visible.

If the issue persists, check the “Opens with” setting:

1. Right click on the file and select Properties
2. Navigate to the general tab
3. Check what software is referenced under “Opens with:” and change it to BERNINA Embroidery Software V8/V9 if not given

If the issue persists, enable thumbnails in Windows Explorer:

1. Open File Explorer.
2. Go to View → Options → Change folder and search options.
3. In the View tab, uncheck Always show icons, never thumbnails.
4. Click Apply and OK.

If the issue persists, clear thumbnail cache

1. Open Settings (Windows + I) → System → Storage.
2. Select Temporary Files.
3. Check the box for Thumbnails and click Remove files.

If the issue persists, reinstall the software

1. Uninstall all V9, Wilcom and if given Corel software.
2. Repair system files (advanced /optional):
   1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd" and right-click to select Run as administrator).
   2. Run the following command: “sfc /scannow”.
   3. Restart your PC after the scan is complete.
3. Install pending Windows updates if given.

To save/convert your designs as EXP, PES, VP3 and other machine file formats in V9, V8 and older versions you can use one of the following features:

1. Export machine file
2. Write to Card/Machine

After plugging the V9 installation USB stick into your computer it looks like the USB stick is empty.

Description
The USB stick has 2 partitions. One partition contains the installation files and is read only. The other can be used to save files.
Some computers might display the partition as a CD drive.
The Antivirus might block the PC from recognizing the USB correctly.
The USB port might be damaged.
Solution 

1. Make sure you are looking at the correct partition 'BERNINA_V9DP'.
   


2. The correct partition will contain several files including the setup file.
   


3. Turn the Antivirus off (Not just pause).
4. Restart the computer with USB stick plugged in.
5. Some computers might require more time to recognize the partition containing the installation files.
6. If the partition isn't recognized even after 10 minutes, try a different USB port.

Note: Computers with ESET Antivirus need to uninstall the Antivirus to recognize the USB stick correctly and install V9.

The error message appears during software start up.



Description
This error can occur after Windows updates.

Solution
Note:
"Internal error Hasp API returned (64)" on computers that just had the latest windows 10 update, cannot be fixed by reinstalling HASP driver!

Please follow the instruction below to fix the issue:

• Open Sentinel Keys from this link: Thales Sentinel ACC: Sentinel Keys
• Check if a “cloned” error is detected:

• If a “cloned" error is detected, remove the “cloned” Key ID file from this folder:
  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel LDK\installed\112801
• If you can't see the folder "Common Files", you will need to activate the viewing of hidden file

• Stop and Start “Sentinel LDK License Manager” service in the “Component Services” dialog box:

 

• Restart your V8 or V9 embroidery software

Note: For V8 it will open the activation dialog box, as if the V8 key has never been activated on this PC. Therefore, it requires to use one activation. If necessary you can request an activation key to be added by contacting BERNINA Software Support.

Basically yes. However, there are certain restrictions for objects created with new functions of BERNINA Embroidery Software (e.g. PhotoStitch, Couching, 3D Globe Effect, etc.). In this case, these objects will not be scaled with a stitch recalculation and reshaping will also be difficult. If your design contains such elements, you will be made aware of this by a note.
