Stamps are a cinch to create with the BERNINA DesignWorks Software. The desired shape is digitised, then automatically cut out by your embroidery machine with the CutWork Tool.
Sponge cloths or foam rubber are ideal for making stamps.
You will also need:
-
Fabric
-
Card
-
Paper for covering below the fabric to be stamped
-
Fabric paint
-
A fairly thick paintbrush
-
A feather, if wished
For the flamingo from Inspiration no. 62, model 6260, two sponge cloths are first of all sewn together end-to-end.
Hoop embroidery stabiliser; place sponge cloths on top and tack down with the ‘Motif Basting Box’ function. Cut out flamingo with the CutWork Tool.
Affix the finished flamingo to a piece of card, glueing a cardboard box to the back of the card as a handle if wished.
Insert paper between front and back of skirt to prevent the paint from coming through.
Paint flamingo with fabric paint and stamp onto front of skirt. To achieve a feathery effect, you could also pin a feather to the sponge cloth and paint it along with the sponge before stamping.
Once the paint has dried, place a cotton cloth over it and heat-set with an iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions for about 3 minutes. Your one-off is now finished!
